Manston Trip (2/5/04)

Hi all, went to Manston today, in the hope that i may get a closer look at the Travelcity Dircet 742’s. Just my luck, neither of them were there! 😡 Kinda felt that i had a wasted trip, but did get to see all of the stuff that was currently in storage there and had an MK Airlines DC-8 and Etiopian Cargo 757 land while i was there. So all was not lost. :p

Manston terminal is currently undergoing some sort of renevation at present. Hopefully will look better inside and outside than it does at the mo.

Some other interesting visitors were, The Puffin Club’s Beech 200 and the HM Coast Guard Islander.

The AFX 742 thats been in storage there is now undergoing, what looked to me, the begining of a srcapping process. A sad end to an old LHR regular.

Other things in storage were: 2x MK Airlines DC-8’s (N812TC & 9G-MKA), 1x Air Atlanta 742 (TF-ARG), 1x EAL 742 (G-BDXJ).

With regards to the 747 chopped nose section, this was in front of the flying club there, not a clue as to why it was

Thanks for the comments all.

Tony, sadly there is no pic. Was impossible to get one. It landed and went straight behind a new hanger they are building there. Unlike the last time i went there, all aircraft (cargo or PAX) came up to the terminal to unload, but the terminal is now under reconstruction and closed.

Sorry to dissapoint. 🙁

Great shots. TF-ABP was operating an EUK flight to SFB on Saturday afternoon and came back about midday into MAN. As far as I know, she remained there for the rest of the day. She only had Travel City Direct titles on the left hand side, the right side had very visible titles from its previous occupants, Saudia.

Hi GD1. No the DC-8’s are on concrete. I agree the pic is mis-leading, but if you take a look at Manston from the air:

Excellent quality Andrew. I remember reading about Manston in Airlinerworld a year or so back. Are those DC-8’s up top parked in the grass?
