New Models for me!

Hi,

Just a post to report back to you with the latest models I’ve bought from ebay.

Some of you will know that I’m trying to get an entire fleet of Thai Airways in scale 1/400. In the past 24 hours, I’ve purchased a 777-200 and an A300-600. So my 1/400 Thai fleet currently looks like this:

Boeing 737-200 Number 749 of 750 made
Boeing 747-300
Boeing 747-400
Boeing 777-200 On it’s way from America
Boeing 777-300
Airbus A300-600 On it’s way from America. Normal colours, not Cathay
McDonnell Douglas Md-11 On it’s way from Thailand

Need to get the A330 which is going to be my next spend.

The current model count is 25:

1 x 1/144
1 x 1/200
16 x 1/400
7 x 1/500

Anyone else bought anything else recently?

Oh yes, this proves that the people who make this are not into aviation… They make BAE 146-300 of SNBA.. I’ll not buy Herpa then! *****
ANn ARJ and an Avro are the same. By the way, DAT was owned 100% by Sabena and also flew under their flight code… so why call them DAT :).

It wasn’t even a Sabena ARJ… it was a dat Avro. I know, I flew on it… OO-DWD.

Yeah right, they think that it was a BAE 146-300 that was painted in the 75 years of Sabena… While it was an AVRO RJ, BTW, Sabena even don’t operated the 146-300!Thank’s for the websites, I’ll buy some soon.

Anyone like this beauty. Old BY 762 with the original Britannia colour scheme.
The 767’s never actually flew in these colours.

Right I have found a few models with the Belgian flag right on it! Even then I’m not sure, I only see one side. Is HerpaWings safe to buy? Are there European dealers?

Herpa is a German company, they’ve made models for ages and have a huge range of various subjects. But stick to the models marked New Generation, they’ve got better detail and true-to-scale landing gears.

European dealers – I can recommend Luchtvaart Hobby Shop near Amsterdam Schiphol, and Aviation Center Berlin in central West Berlin. Herpas are sold in most toy- and hobbyshops in Germany though.

Latest and greatest purchase off Ebay is the complete bargain I found of the Jet-X PSA orange 727 twinpack in 1/400. One 727-100 and one 727-200, very beautiful and a third of the normal retail price!

Else I’m collecting 707, 727, 737 and old livery Lufthansa models in 1/400 and 1/500. Pride of my collection is in 1/200 though, Lufthansa Modell Edition B727-200 “Mainz”. Found on Ebay, of course…

A nice lot of models you’ve got coming your way. Glad to see you finally made the right choice about the A330! 😀 (lol)!

I should hopefully have Gemin jets new RAF C-17 globemaster model coming in a few days.

No, since nobody explains me how to get models if not at eBay, despite asking it several times. I can’t find SN Brussels Airlines or Sabena models, and if I do so, the Belgian flag is on it the wrong way.
Nice models. What was the very first aircraft of Thai?

Try one of the two aviation stores at Schiphol. And if I am not terribly mistaken you can also get them at one of the souvenir stores at BRU. Failing that, fly with SNBA and buy one on board or possibly even on-line at the SNBA site.

I’ve got loads and loads of the plastic snap-together models.

They are the best way to start a decent model collection. I have models from most of the aircraft I have flown on with most being purchased on board the aircraft – Airtours A330, Thai 747, Excel 737, British Airways 747, British Airways 767, British Airways 757, Monarch A300 to name a few… They are all on display, collecting dust on top of my wardrobe.

Although you pay quite a bit more for models by Herpa, Germini Jets, Dragon Wings, Star Jets and others, the quality is certainly a great deal better and the detail is amazing.

If you want to start a decent collection, I would recommend Star Jets for 1/500 models and Dragon Wings for 1/400. I’m not overly impressed with the Herpa range. My Thai 747 is not anything like what it should be!

That is very arrogant of you Jeanske, you automatically think that people should just know where to get Sabena models?

Don’t they have any shows in Belgium? That’s where I get mine from. Dirt cheap and you don’t pay for shipping. I’m going to be going to Airliners2004 since it’s in L.A. this year. Those are the biggest shows worldwide. I went when it was in Phoenix back in 2000.
