Blunder grounds Easyjet flights!

Blunder grounds Easyjet flights

Forty flights were delayed
No frills airline Easyjet has apologised after about 4,800 passengers were delayed by an administration blunder which delayed 40 flights.
The aircraft were delayed on Saturday after insurance documents were not placed on the relevant planes.

Passengers embarking on their bank holiday getaway to continental Europe and UK destinations were affected, with Stansted and Luton the worst hit.

Knock-on effects meant a further 14 flights were cancelled.

Full inquiry

Passengers due to fly on those were transferred to other flights and the company said it was “working to avoid” delaying people until Sunday.

The disruption came because vital insurance renewal documents were not placed in the aircraft.

The blunder was discovered at around 6.30 BST on Saturday morning.

All affected planes were due to take off by 10.30 BST, head of corporate affairs Toby Nicol said.

While services from Luton and Stansted were hardest hit, Newcastle, Liverpool and Bristol were also affected.

Mr Nicol said the company would hold a “full and immediate” inquiry into why the documents were not on board but Saturday’s priority was to get people to their destinations.

I haven’t posted on here for a couple of days as I’ve been in Edinburgh where I’ve been shadowing a crew for two days. A friend who is a purser set this up for me so that I could get some experience of what it’s liking working at an airline before I actually do next year.

We were due to start our shift yesterday at 7AM but just before we were due to push back the captain I was flying with (won’t mention his name for obvious reasons) realised our insurance documents were out of date by 7 hours. He called the base which faxed through another document and we were on our way within 40 minutes. However when we arrived at our hotel for our night stop last night we met a Glasgow crew who had not been given the documents but hadn’t realised the error and only noticed when they finished their shift.

All of the guys and girls were saying it had been there worst day in a very long time, was a great insight to be a part of it though!
