I was checking the BAA.co.uk website last night and stumbled across Heathrow flight arrival information.
At the top of the list was Thai Airways International flight TG916 from Bangkok. Instead of arriving at about 6.30pm, it arrived at 9.33pm, 2 minutes before it was scheduled to be on its way back to Bangkok. The aircraft eventually left at 11.30pm for Thailand again, despite being 2 hours late.
Anyway, I have just checked out the Thai Airways website and TG 916 landed at about 7.10pm at London Stansted. It eventually left two hours later for Heathrow and arrived within 17 minutes.
Does anyone know what the problem was? I’ve never seen a Thai flight be that late before, nor make an unscheduled stop at another airport on the way.
Also, what was happening at Heathrow yesterday? Many flights were leaving much later than they should have. BA 1462 to Edinburgh (a 757) left at 10.00pm, some 3 and a half hours late!

Seriously bad thunderstorm this side of LHR all night. Was very nasty indeed, with Luton and Stansted getting quite a bit of action in the form of diverts.

I was just walking into Air Cadets when i saw the Thai plane come over low on finals for STN at about 7:05pm yesterday evening. I was struck to see it, took me about 5 looks before I could believe it wasn’t GSS or NCA Cargo! Also soon after was a Bmi A320, G-MIDA. There must have been some reason for the diversions, I know there were lots of storms in the London area last night?

My bet is those two flights issues are related.
Perhaps an aircraft was blocking the Arrivals runway, and as we know LHR is busy this is the knock on effect?
