TU-134's to get new lease of life

Union state’s programs for the modernization of a fleet of Tu
-134 aicraft are planned to be submitted for consideration at a
meeting of the union’s Council of Ministers, the Byelorussian
Embassy in the RF reported.
Under the program a number of aircraft assemblies will be
replaced and upgraded which will allow for their service time to
be extended to serve another 15-20 years. Besides, the Tu-134
planes are planned to be reequipped with modern engines. Such
liners are hoped to meet world standards and will allow air
carriers from the CIS countries to fly to European and other
countries. The Tu-134 modernization program will be performed by
both Byelorussian and Russian enterprises. Of all flying
vehicles built in the former USSR the Tu -134 has the most
strong body. According to the Tupolev Design Bureau, it may
serve for no less than 30 years.
