Summer Meets?

Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone had any planned?
Would be more than happy to show people around the best spots at LBA if anyone gets the urge! (Doubt it!)

From LBA there is a direct train sprinter service to Glasgow Central in the summer period only, at least there has been for the past few years? It takes around 4 hours I gather from my Glasgow based, Leeds colleague.

Other than that you can catch a GNER service via Edinburgh or hop across to Preston or Wigan and catch a Virgin west coast service also to Glasgow Central. From Glasgow Central you’d change to a Paisley Gilmour Street local service (10 mins ) and catch the airport bus outside which will take you to GLA in 5 mins.

Thanks for the info Ren 🙂 Worth bearing in mind in the future, but just realised its not the school hols anyway then, wouldn’t be able to make it. Another thing you’ve got to remember is the train service wouldn’t be from LBA (As it doesen’t have a train station!) But from Leeds Central. A bit longer to travel than the bus to LBA at the top of my road!

I am planning to go down to AMS but ala the previous thread I posted earlier this year, we couldn’t really decide on a date? 😎

If you could make it on July 23rd, fantastic.

I might be able to join you there.

Would like to meet Mr GD 😀

As I mentioned before, sounds like a plan. Hopefully we can get Peter to meet up with us, as he is the AMS guru.

I’m in Brussels on 12th September, Manchester sometime in June, Manchester on 5th September. I’ve already done Birmingham for this year, so no BHX until next year (and I just love BHX!)

Per a previous post, I had proposed a meet at AMS. I’ll be there from July 22nd until the 24th. The 23rd would be ideal.

Although obviously you’d have to wait 20 minutes for the bus to turn up…

but on the bright side, you do get driven past Love Street home of the, er, not quite safe from relegation yet, Buddies… 😉

I would love to have the opportunity to visit to AMS. If I could, I would be there in a heart beat. It is probably the best airport for spotting in the world. I dream of an airport like that. Hope you take lots of pics.

I imagine it would take a couple of hours at least, and i’d have to change trains at Leeds from Bradford and would probably end up quite expensive, and then i’d have to get the train from the station to the airport!

Should come to LBA 🙂 £21.00 each way plus taxes with BMi from LHR in August 😀

You got a really good deal on those flights.

Taxes are practically £30, so a return flight to LBA would cost in excess of £70! We could have gotten the flight £3 cheaper if we had flown at about 6.00am in the morning. We have opted for the 8.50am departure which cost that little bit extra. Hopefully I can get to the airport by 7.00am! :p

How much were the flights? I fancy it but just looked at BMi LBA-GLA-LBA on that day.. Not going at £187.20!

Hi LBARULES,

We got a fair deal with bmi at £54.40 return (each). We get a meal on the flight and I get a few miles on my Thai Royal Orchid Plus account, so not bad at all.

Is it far by train? I wouldn’t have a clue!

World’s busiest INTERNATIONAL Airport, actually. Busiest overall, in terms of pax, is still ATL, by a decent margin.

By the way, what does the little red and white “flood-like” triangle on the upper right hand corner of each post (except mine) represent?

There’s not been any mention of the Barcelona meet, so I’m not sure if that is still going ahead or not.

As for other, more local meets, obviously the new flight in my signature was booked last night. A330Crazy and I are going to Glasgow on Thursday 3rd June for the day – arriving 10.00am and leaving about 7.30pm, so would be great to see lots of you there.

I’m keen to make a trip to Cologne in the next few months. Germanwings fly form London Gatwick and providing you book early enough, you can secure a return ticket on their A319s for less than £30.

I’m certainly up for LHR and possibly LGW meets over the summer period. 🙂
