BY 752 Base at Teesside

Just read that Britannia will be basing a 752 at Teesside in Summer 05.

After the withdrawl of MYT, this is great news for Teesside. 🙂

Apparently, someone on PPrune has the AIH brochure and its showing a based Spanair aircraft. It’ll be great if you could confirm mate.

Thanks. 🙂

Hey, no problems mate 🙂

Unfortunately your right about the Direct Brochure, it doesen’t show the airline, I am gonna try and get an Airtours brochure ASAP, to see what airline they have down to operate that flight and others from MME. 2005 looking very good despite the opening of DSA!

Excellent LBA, thanks for the update! 🙂

If I remember right, Direct Holidays don’t show the Airline codes so we probably can’t be certain yet. Even if we have Spanair again, I’ll be happy. And a visit from your 762. Great news for Teesside!

I understand your concerns about BY at LBA; I wish they’d do more from there but obviously aren’t going to complain about us getting some decent services at last. We’ve been a long time in the wilderness. 🙂

Thanks again mate – I appreciate that. Anymore info, please send my way… 😎

Also forgot to say Pembo, you will be getting the LBA based B767 on a Sunday this year on the Palma flight as our 767 has a very long day on a Sunday. Departs LBA 07:00 Sunday Morning and does LBA-PMI-MME-PMI-HUY-PMI-LBA arriving back at LBA around 04:00 Monday morning! The a/c is currently G-BRIG in the hybrid scheme.

Pembo,
You will delighted to hear that according to the Direct brochure there is a Larnaca flight on a Wednesday operated by a based a/c, leaving about 7 in the morning coming back about 6PM.
Lucky buggars you at MME, Paphos + Larnaca!
You’ve gone from having hardly any charters, and I bet now you’ll have more than us at LBA!

Pembo,
Got the Direct Holidays 2005 brochure through the post yesterday (Of course they are owned by MyTravel). While they dont use all the Airtours flights they use a fair few. All but about two look like they are operated by a based a/c. Can’t remember all the destinations, will post up later.

On the based BY a/c note, it really annoys me that the likes of MME and DSA are getting 15 flights straight away yet we at LBA only have 11. I wonder how much longer Thomson will be at LBA.

Interesting that the Thomson 05 Brochure shows a Sunday MYT flight to Faro with based like timings. Could this mean that MYT will return next year.

As for the THOMSON.CO.UK flights all aircraft will retain a smal “operated by Britannia” marking on the front of the aircraft.

The Peel airports group seem to have a fair few deals going around with the Thomson group. They had a deal to bring them into Liverpool when Airtours were the only based operator, they have had a huge deal going with the Britannia Summer flights and the Thomsonfly operation which are proposed at Doncaster-Sheffield-Robin Hood and his merry little mens international airport!

Been covered lots of times, still officially Britannia with BY flight codes but with thomson.co.uk on the side of the a/c.

I very much imagine so Speedbird, and they seem to be getting through them very quickly!

Pembo- Hope that having a 757 based at DSA and MME means they operate more of the HUY W patterned flights which are currently operated from LBA (Corfu and Palma for example.)

I can still see room for a MyTravel A320 if they ever do return as I can’t imagine BY operating that many Canary and Greece flights, (They never have operated that many from LBA apart from Dalaman,Corfu and Tenerife with the addition of a Zakynthos flight next year). MYT have always operated the likes of LPA,LCA,FUE,RHO etc.

Haven’t heard anything about a LCA flight from MME, im surprised Helios or Eurocypria haven’t picked up.

Will keep you up to date on anything I hear/read!

Yes they are Speedbird, not sure when the job will be complete though. 🙂

Some may appear in a hybrid livery rather than be repainted, such as the 767-200s.

I certainly think BY will reduce their 752s elsewhere; well they’re going to have to unless they acquire more.

It will be interesting to see what happens with LBA and NCL next year; will a BY base at MME have any effect? Hope not.

As for MYT, I can’t see them coming back unfortunately. I can’t see there been room enough for 2 based charter carriers at Teesside, much as I’d like it, but you never know.

Keep me informed LBA – particularly interested to see if anyone is operating a Larnaca flight next year! 🙂

If that is true that is fantastic news. Of course Britannia are basing a 757 at Finningley next year too with 15 routes. Hoping that with all these 757s going other places, we might get a 767 at LBA all year next summer! Will try and get a Thomson brochure within the next couple of days Pembo. Of course, if MYT get sorted out, always the chance they could base again at MME!

I wonder if anyone has a Thomson brochure for next year, whether they could post the BY752’s schedule up here. 🙂

Thanks as ever.
