Plane makes forced landing
A Doha-bound Qatar Airways flight made a forced landing in Cairo after a Kuwaiti man tried to make the pilot fly to Geneva.
Salam Shawa said flight QR553, en route from Casablanca, Morocco, landed in the Egyptian capital for “precautionary reasons” after a “disturbed passenger” started shouting and requesting to see the captain.
Shawa said the passenger remonstrated with the plane’s cabin crew and demanded the captain divert the plane to Geneva.
It was not immediately clear why he wanted the plane diverted.
The plane’s cabin crew brought the man under control and Egyptian police took him into custody once the plane landed in Cairo.
The plane, carrying about 90 passengers, continued its trip to Qatar’s capital, Doha, about an hour later.
