Cathay to buy more 777's and A330's

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd will announce a new order for two Boeing and “about” six Airbus aircraft on Thursday, an airline source said, the carrier’s first passenger fleet expansion following a SARS-hit 2003.
The source said that Cathay had placed an order for two Boeing 777-300 wide-body and twin-engine aircraft and “about” six Airbus A330-300 planes for delivery between 2005 and 2007 for use on regional passenger routes.
Some of the Airbus planes would be leased from International Lease Finance Corp, a unit of U.S. insurance giant American International Group

true…but i was just wondering as i have seen some airlines (cant remember from the top of my head) that have replaced older versions of the 330 with new ones.

It’s all expansion. We will have 94 aircraft when they arrive.

Didn’t they cancel or delay orders since the SARS-breakout? Surprises me that they recover so fast. How’s Cathay Pacific’s profitablility?
