I gave seen reports that they are evaluating their position and considering re-launching commercial aircraft manufacturing.. i dont think this is a good idea. BAE Systems have produced superb aircraft but their production is very costly and they often cancell projects (even when there is a market and many orders.. eg BAE RJX).

Ive just heard that they are cutting a load of jobs actually, due to lack of defense contracts. It seems unlikely.

would this be a new design or a rehash of the BAe146/ARJ/ARJX. If the latter than i don’t think they have a chance of competing with the E170, 2nd hand (and possibly new) Fokkers, A318s, B717s and B736s. Not to mention a number of Russian programs and the D’Long/Fairchild 728.

I would be extremely pleased if they started manufacturing aircraft again! It’d be brilliant to have atleast some part in the aviation industry here in Britain, compared to what we had years back. I think it was quite a bad decision to stop the RJX development right at the last minute, I think they could have made some good money on that project had they given it chance.
