My time for a career in aviation is long, long past. My fault, for not doing what I should have done when I was younger, but chance easily passes you by while your back is turned and then suddenly it’s too late. I also have mobility problems now which, at the age of 42, precludes doing anything active. So, what’s all this waffle about?……. Taking your chances while you can. I wish everyone success in their chosen career, some of you are already well on your way.

For me? It’s not quite all over…. I can’t do many of those jobs but I can write, and that, my friends, is where my future lies.

Good luck to all of us, for one thing is certain, at some point, we’re going to need it!

Regards,

I would like to work in the aviation industry, thats why I ve done my master’s in air transport management. Despite the fact I have the knowledge, I have no experience. Therefore, I would like to begin my carreer at the lowest scales… where the truth battles occur to win the respect of the passengers and gain their trust, friendship and repeat purchases. Then,I would like to climb gradually at all the stages within the aviation industry, particularly in the marketing, product planning and customer services.

Once I get to my fifties, It will be my dream to return to my university as lecturer and teach all my experience and knowledge that i gained to the new generation.

What dreams may come… yet do they come true? I made the first step!

Kind Regards

I don’t think Iron Maiden are as full on as they used to be in previous years but I think Astraeus are somehat flexible with him. I believe he prerecords his weekly show for Radio 2 so it doesn’t interfere with his roster.

And you may get to work with Bruce ****inson! 😀 😀 😀 I still dont understand how on Earth he manages to fly as a pilot for them yet be in such a huge band like Iron Maiden. Maybe you will know wys, does he actually work for them full-time? I’ve never heard of part-time pilots before

Not neccessarily. There are many really great jobs around and about aviation. One job that has come up in Flight International is being a search and rescue winch operator. Now I’m sure that would appeal to some of you guys/gals.

Deano, i don’t really know anything about the Astraeus scheme but I’ll try to find out more and get back to you. I do think they are potentially a good employer to work for. The Chief Pilot is a particularly good guy.

If my results at school keep going down that way, it will be luggae loader:D.
No I gave up the idea to become a pilot, so now I’m hoping to become dispatcher or something.

hehe,

I certainly will keep you posted Ian, just need to finish off my fitness program I started then its on the phone to Gatwick for the medical, I have a fear that I may need glasses now as at my age the old eyes start to deteriorate lol but my vision is ok, i.e. no defects
What do you think of Astraeus’ offer of the B737 TR and 100hrs line training? there is an interesting thread on pprune about it, Im not sure how they are going to go about offering it to potential customers i.e. whether it is going to be a selection process etc and a chance of employment at the end, I suppose the line training is the biggest draw as this offers us “noobs” “some” experience on the line and could be an advantage, I will find out more after Saturday’s Seminar but I suppose the burning question is whether a 737 TR is the way forward with so many A320s entering service within the UK airline base, but hey thats the gamble

Dean 🙂

Just gotta pass my Class 1 medical (should be taking it in next 4-5 weeks) then start Modular ATPL with BGS, intending to buy into a group to hr build and then do my IMC / Night / Multi / IR / CPL with either Bristol or maybe Stapleford as Astraeus are offering a B737 TR with 100hrs Line, going to the seminar this Saturday to see what the bonds are etc. Im intent on doing the MCC and JO courses too.
Then hopefully once i gain my fATPL I can land a job with anybody flying anything, we can’t be too picky in this current climate, then my ultimate aim is to fly the 777, Id also like to emigrate to Australia and fly the A330 for them.
How am I going to fund it? Remortgage the house and sell the missus and my unborn child on Ebay to the highest bidder 😀

Fly a non fly-by-wire aircraft before everything becomes fly-by-wire. Preferably a 757. Go through OAT and become a pilot on BA or anyone who is not low cost.

I’m quite happy working in the industry and not being a pilot. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be an airline pilot myself, but I can see the reasons why people would.
