Does anybody know what the large four engine prop was that flew over Loughborough this evening?, sorry to be so vague but I heard it first and only caught a fleeting glimpse through cloud gaps, it first flew over early evening and then returned at about 9 ish.

just seen your post from the other day – saw the DC6 as well – heard it take off from EMA – ever so distinctive sound – at midnight one night last week – I live about 7 miles fro EMA – sound seems to travel further in the dead of the night!!

Air Antiques DC6 was operating on mail runs out of STN.
AN22 has been over a few time this year but have heard he is in maintenance and won’t be around for a while 🙁

Its just flown over again, got a better look this time and I’m pretty sure it was an Air Atlantique DC-6.

The Electra is still a turboprop. Sadly I left Loughborough for the Easter break, so I missed it!

An Electra by any chance? There’s still a few around, Atlantic Air being one of them.

Sounded more like piston than turboprop?

Sounds like it.. there’s been one doing the rounds across Europe and to Shannon mainly this past year or so. It visited PIK last year a couple of times.
