Afghanistan's Aviation Minister Murdered

Afghanistan’s Aviation Minister, Mirwais Sadiq, has been killed in an ambush in the western city of Herat.
The presidential palace confirmed that the minister had died, following earlier reports that he had survived.

Gunmen shot Mr Sadiq – the son of Herat governor Ismail Khan – as he sat in his car, said presidential spokesman Khaleeq Ahmed.

Fighting has broken out following the assassination, with reports of many deaths and injuries.
