Jumpseating on Lufthansa flights

Hi all! I was wondering about the jumpseating onboard LH flights. In some weeks time I will fly this airline on two European and also on two Domestic German flights. How do you think, will I be able to receive a jumpseat?
P.S. I am not a German citizen.

Most airlines won’t allow it since 9/11

Last October I flew from Bahrain to Singapore in the C1’s spare crew seat, and was lucky enough to get in the flight deck as we flew all the way across India, and then to top off my Birthday at the top of decent I was aloud to ‘sit up front’ and take pictures as we landed at Changi.

BA are the best in my opinion, all bar one of the flight crew I have spoken to has been enthusiastic to let me in, the one that wasn’t enthusiastic about it and up for an in depth chat still let me in anyway πŸ˜€

Yes, Despite BA haveing a NO VISIT rule, their crews seem quite enthusiastic with having visitors. I guess its becuase the can probably remember being in our shoes as children

I know that if I do become a pilot, I’d always allow visits and would actively encourage them. Of course, I wouldn’t openly invite just anyone.

Indeed. there are still regular Jumpseaters posting pictures on JP.net and A.net.

Virgin seem to have a “captain discretion” policy. Or so I head.
BA is a complete NO NO unless your known to the flight crew. Even then you may only just get a peek at the end of the flight.
There is no law against flight deck visits/ Jumpseat rides.

Best thing to do would be to contact LH by letter, tell them you’re an aviation enthusiast and ask them what their policy is. If they say “captains discrection” then make sure you make your wishes known to the Check-in staff and FA’s of your flight. They will often let the Captain know.

This is how some of the JP.net and A.net photographers go about it.

my friend is a captain for Germanwings. all I need to do is let him know I’m on his flight and he’ll send for me just before pushback.

Lets just say, my seat in the pax cabin will remain unattended untill we arrive at the gate in KΓΆln (Cologne):D

Might do this a few times this summer πŸ˜€

Dont know about over there but here in the UK there is absolutely no chance of getting a jumpseat flight anymore. I was lucky enough to get 4 in 2 days with GO Airlines, but sadly now it isnt allowed really.
