Hey guys this is my first thread.
I live here in Dublin about 2 miles from the airport and I was just wondering what airlines or routes do you think would be succesful from Dublin.Ive heard Montreal,San Francisco,Miami,Dubai and South Africa mentioned but what do you guys think would work.I dont ever expect to see 747s from all over Asia but do you think its possibel that we could se for example Thai or Singapore airlines with smaller equipment like A330.Korean fly to Warsaw with a A330 and I thought that was a starnge route. So what routes do you think would work from Dublin.
I dont really want a response from you if your going to say we wont see any.Your help would be greatly appreiated.

guess they will pass on it there appears to be very little demand for flights to oporto in the summer there is only a few flight a week to oporto.

Aer Lingus will also resume there 3/4 weekly flights to Lisbon at the end of this month.I suppose Porugal is well covered from Dublins point of view with Lisbon,Faro and Funchal but what about Oporto.

emirates are looking very closely at starting a dubai flight minimum 4/5 days a week, rumours are gulf air would start in competition 7 days a week if emirates started up.united have said they want to start chicago and san fran flights when the stopover goes.aerlingus will start florida and san fran/san diego plus seattle and others when stopover goes europe will expand big time in the mean time.finnair are coming back for the summer with airbuses.lufthansa are starting a stuttgart route soon.air baltic is going to fly to dublin from riga.singapore airlines would most likely start up a route but thats a while away.

I’d happily sit on that big mound next to the chip van all day, given a nice balmy afteroon in July.

Im sure that some middle eastern airlines like Emirates could fill an A330 2 or 3 times a week. One thing that I have noticed is a huge new amount of LCCs in Dub like Basiq air and German Wings. How often would you guys meet up in Dublin.

For services to the Middle East (Dubai etc), would there be sufficient demand from those living in and around Dublin? Perhaps passengers wishing to travel to Dubai as an example, should just connect via Heathrow.

First of all : welcome to you Irish mate 🙂
Well SFO sounds like a good idea to me.
It seems that the DUB LAX route is pretty popular, so why not SFO.

It’s a shame you didn’t post a couple of weeks ago when some of went to DUB for a day out.
To get to your question though, I see DUB as being a bit like GLA/EDI combined, in that you have good range of international long haul and short as well as charters to lot’s of varied destinations, without being a major hub like LHR or AMS.
As for expansion of long haul routes and types, it sounds like certain US carriers are making noises about moving into DUB in much the same way as they are making noises about moving into GLA and EDI.
GLA is currently awaiting new routes with smaller long haul types from PIA, US Airways and Emirates. I don’t see why DUB shouldn’t see that kind of traffic either. Established US carriers are getting stronger again after the 9/11 recession, so it’s also feasible for existing operators to up the frequencies or perhaps switch to larger types, like Continental did at GLA with move from 757 to 762, to 764. American Airlines are rumoured to be upgrading from 763 to 777 next season.
I imagine you might see similar business through DUB.
