Eric Moody was the Captain on the BA ‘glider’

A BA 747-200 had all four engines cut out after flying through a volcanic cloud. After gliding for about 60 miles the crew were able to get a few of the engines running again. The aircraft is now flying with EAL.

Yep. It was a KLM flight arriving at NRT.
I was waiting it to fly back to CDG that day.
When we saw the pax faces when they arrived , we knew that something happened.I read the story a few days later in a newspaer.
Our flight was very very late!!!
I’ve read CVR and ATC transcripts of this event, a truely terrifying ordeal for the crew and pax. But the crew did a hell of a job. They are unsung heros.
