Trident 3b G-awzk……saved!!!!!!!!!

Hi all im back with some great news the save the trident fund have managed to save G-AWZK from the scrapman,we are proud to announce that the aircraft will go to Manchester aeropark by april ….but we still need to raise funds to assist Manchester to reassemble the aircraft so far we have raised just under ten grand i hope this news will spur on new pledgers to our fund ,we also havea new website on the go and i would like to invite any of you to have a look and leavea message in our guestbook i would like to thank anyone who has already pledged to our cause but we need to get more funds thanks to all who have helped so far

yeah you got it (it could have ) but as i said BEA and BA never did channel were the only airline to do so.

BEA and British airways never configured there trident threes in this mannor the only operator that did was channel airways in the 1970s the had trident 1E-140 s with no galleys and maxium pax config maybe this is what you are thinking about????

Raising the final funds

If you can sort the security out with BAA and BA, suggest fence off an area round the Trident, and organise a ‘Trident photo day’ to raise funds. I for one would gladly pay £10 to take some photos and have a look inside. Anyone else interested?

Originally designed by De Havilland as the DH 121 Trident, it was to be built by a consortium called AIRCO. However, the great amalgamations in the British aircraft industry in 1961/62 forced De Havilland into the Hawker Siddeley group. From that point on it was referred to as the Hawker Siddeley HS121 Trident.

Trident man I did see the video

I have to admit I watched it about 5 times! It brought back memopries of ridiing in them and watching them from the terminal! Great stuff!
About the engines though could they be run up at some point? There must be plenty of spares around?

as i am aware all the hangers will be pulled down, the area will be used as an arcraft parking area due to overcrouding in the central terminal area.

reasons for tridents removal

G-AWZK has to be moved from westbase as BA are moving out of this area the hangers will be demolished and the land returned to the BAA the trident has to go by 31st march as does concorde G-BOAA

It wasn’t allowed at Heathrow for much longer and yes it’s gonna be with the monarch dc10 nosecone,RJX and concorde.
My local airport is MAN so I’ll get to see it every saturday when I go:) 🙂

Could her engines be started? or are they seized? If so, is there any chance of fixing them? Would you ever consider it if you could? It would be great if she could be taxied!!!!

Also, do you plan to replace the wing tips which were taken off at LHR? Are the wings the same as those on the Trident on the MAN firedump?

I’m really pleased that she has been saved. Well done!!!
