Helicopters don’t crash often because it actually can’t crash. With an engine failure, you fall, but you don’t crash (you do if you have a complete loss of power, am I right?) I could explain but it’s quite complicated.

There’s been three come down here since xmas, i don’t think your theory would wash with the victims families some how

Er… I saw footage of a tail rotor failure and that was most certainly a spectacular crash. 😮

Sky news:

CHOPPER CRASH LANDS

A helicopter has crash landed at Newcastle Airport injuring the two people on board.

Neither of the men are said to be seriously hurt and both have been taken to Newcastle General Hospital.

The helicopter, operated by helicopter flight training school Northumbria Helicopters, came down on the just off the main runway at around 12.20pm..

The airport was breifly closed while emergency services made sure the helicopter was safe.

A spokesman for Northumbria Helicopters said the aircraft had just had a “heavy land” and both people on board were all right.

He added: “They are both okay. They were taken to hospital with lower back pains. They took them out carefully because of their backs and both of them were chatting away. They were never unconscious. It was just a heavy land.”

Sky says it happened within the grounds of the airport and that emergency crews were on the scene instantly. Sounds like a possible take off or landing mishap?
