Imca wil Air Holland redden
Imca

Erik de Vlieger wants to save Air Holland.
The Amsterdam businessman Erik de Vlieger wants to invest in the airline Air Holland. In this manner he hopes to get travel agencies TUI, Thomas Cook and D-Reizen to take seats from the airline.

The investment firm Imca (De Vlieger), negotiates over a week with the management of Air Holland. It is expected that in the night of Wednesday and Tuesday an agreement will be reached.

”Imca and the tour operators find each other rather interesting”, the businessman was quoted. The tour operators are actively involved in the negotiations between Air Holland and Imca.

TUI and Thomas Cook organise cheap travel to long-range destinations. D-reizen flies with the airline to the Caribbean area. This tour operator doesn’t book individual seat anymore with the airline, because of the financial difficulty. Air Holland has been in financial difficulty for some time now. Last year the company narrowly avoided bankruptcy. The airline pays wages often too late. The unions are preparing lawsuits. Air Holland has a staff of 250 employees.

latest news regarding KLMexel:

Monday the pilots will go on strike from 6 in the morning till 11 in the evening.

The organization for Dutch Airline Pilots (VNV) has, 7 months after starting negotiations with the board, still not agreed with the employment terms for the pilots. A spokesperson for the VNV has called the board unreliable, because they don’t uphold previous agreements.

Erik de Vlieger (his last name means The Aviator bytheway!) already owns Air Holland. Air Holland has been bougth a few weeks or months back by the Exel group. The Exel group, as some of you may know, is the airline that operates under the name of KLMexel, ARUBAexel, BONAIRexel and GRANDAexel. Other ***exel airlines are being investigated.

One of the new ventures looked at are setting up a feeder operation for KLM in Spain. Apparently KLM has recently cancelled a contract with a local airline there that feeded KLM, but I haven’t got a clue which airline the feeder operation did.
Another airline thatwill be set up (CONFIRMED NEWS!) is BELGIUMexel. They want to start a 763 service for Thomas Cook to the Caribbean.

Rumours are that the Air Holland fleet will be painted in the ***exel livery and be called HOLLANDexel (original hé!).

In the meantime Air Holland will be declared bankrupt. I get the impression this is merely a tax thing, as the Exel group has said they will continue flying the contracts Air Holland had with various touroperators. The touroperaters mentioned are amongst other Arke, Holland International, Neckermann, Kras and
Sunshine.

Passengers that directly booked their carribean flights at Air Holland are not yet assured of their holidays.
