I know My Travel are pretty hard up at the mo, but surly they should have painted all there fleet by now.
A, they look unprofessional
B makes you wonder if they can’t afford to paint them can they afford to maintain them
C, I head that some of there fleet are always going tech esp there 76s
Any thoughts out there

Based on my flight with them last year, the cabin service wasn’t very good…
But really, I cannot base my opinions on a return flight with them… at all airlines you are bound to get a team of cabin staff who aren’t brilliant or don’t work as professionally…
And every time I flew Airtours I was really impressed. Same staff.. different name. Surely the performance of their staff won’t have changed that much.

I really dont think 99% of the public care what an a/c looks like as long as they get there on time and safely. I agree they look tatty but for the time being thats the way they are going to stay due to money issues. Also bookings are up on last year for the summer so i think that proves most people are not bothered if the a/c are fully painted or not. Its not really an issue when you book a holiday is it ? What most people go for is price and location.

understand the costs and stuff, but as a passenger surly most people would look at the aircraft in it’s many shabby halt painted schems and think ” what the hell is that all about” it’s the typical Airtours/My Travel approach if it looks shabby on the outside what must everthing else be like.
If you had a choice between flying on a Britannia 757-200 in it’s new scheme or the My Travel hybrid which of the two would you choose, given that they are going to the same destination at the same time and all the costs are the same.
No choice realy would be the Brit, and I am sure most folks given the same option woulde choose the nice shiny 757 as oppsed to the scabby half painted bird.
COme on My travel get you aircraft looking half decent and the fyling public might start using you.

That is the exact reason. They cannot justify spending that sort of money at this time. And of course they can afford tio maintain them ! Do you really think the CAA would allow them to operate if that was the case ?

My travel why so many liverys
I understand your point with ref to D checks and such like, but if you think back it’s been a heck of a while forn the re-branding from Airtours to My Travel, take Thomas Cook and Britannia, since there new livery most of there fleet has been re-painted. Just makes me thinks that My Travel dont seem in a great hurry to redo there aircraft. Maybe they just cant aford it?.
Just my 2pence worth

Re-painting a fleet is not easy. You don’t just pull a revenue generating plane from the schedules and keep it indoors for up to a week to repaint it. Its not economical.Usually, airlines will wait until planes are due for maintenance before repainting them. That way, they’re already out of circulation.
The most common time for a plane to receive the new livery of its owner is when it goes in for a D check.
This is when the plane is stripped right down to the bone. Paint is stripped off. All furnishing inside are removed. It’s reduce to a shell.
So, when the check is over, its time to paint the aircraft again ready for service. Thats when it would receive the new livery.
D checks are however, far between. Once every 5-7 years I think. Thus it takes time to repaint a fleet of aircraft.
Mostly what MYT have been doing is removing the Airtours titles of their aircraft over night (as they are merely stickers) and applying the My travel titles, also big stickers.
As for that tech issue you mention… no idea. Matthew?
