Sobelair is bankrupt + current situation

Yesterday (monday) morning Sobelair was declared bankrupt. They failed to make a plan to restructure, or Jetair or so taking it over. Sobelair is still certified to fly, but it wont untill probably friday.
The last flight was a Boeing 737-400 coming from Tenerife, arrived yesterday early evening. It probably had a salute by the fire department; don’t know.
JEtair, the touroperator is now chartering planes from dutchbird to get all the passengers on their destination; Thomas Cook is also operating a small part of the routes. LTE was also here yesterday. Good job by the touroperator, they probably went crazy yesterday; thay had to find planes in a half day.
We’ll see Sobelair planes probably back in the air soon. Now the last ash of Sabena is also cleaned up. The 767’s are expected to go back to the leasing company soon.

SOBELAIR STAFF FIRED! They are not surprised. It’s a logical consequence of the decision by Thomas Cook and Jetair, not to use sobelair anymore for their flights.

The dream of flying with sobelair is over (see pic).

I fail to see how Azzura Air can be one considering they are owned by someone else (Meaning that a direct bid from them is unlikely, more likely the parent company – Air Malta?) and they are this close off bankruptcy with over half their fleet in storage.

There are now three candidates, they don’t say who they are. I believe it is Jetair, Thomas Cook (not sure, and this would give them a useless fleet of Boeing aircraft), and Azzurra air maybe.

Last flight arrived today (wednesday). So my first “last flight” was not correct.
I’m not translating this because nobody cares about it.

KANDIDAAT-OVERNEMERS BIJ SOBELAIR
_______________________________________
Woensdag hebben de curatoren van het
failliete Sobelair gepraat met
vertegenwoordigers van mogelijke
overnemers.

Er zouden vier kandidaten zijn maar de
curatoren willen vooral weten of het
gaat om ernstige investeerders.

Dinsdag was er overleg tussen de
curatoren en de belangrijkste klanten.
Dat zijn Jetair, Thomas Cook en Club
Med. Die willen dan weer garanties dat
ze op Sobelair kunnen vertrouwen.

Wellicht zal pas donderdag of vrijdag
duidelijk worden of er een toekomst is
voor Sobelair. De vliegtuigen blijven
intussen aan de grond.

I do believe that are their own/leased planes with own crew. I am not sure though.

What about DCA’s intra-island DC-9 flights? They do those with their own equipment/crews, etc.?

DCA had an ACMI lease with Sobelair for its flights to Amsterdam. I have just heard that DCA will now use Air Holland instead. The source is a newspaper from the Dutch carribean islands as well as gossip on some Dutch message boards.

Do you happen to know who will take over the DCA (Dutch Caribean Airlines) flights between Amsterdam and the Caribean?
