Flying Finn News

The Finnish low cost airline Flying Finn is to end and start new routes.

The route to end is the current London Stansted to Helsinki on Sunday 18th January. The route has been popular but has ended so Flying Finn can use the aircraft for more shorter flights and to increase aircraft utilisation. This is the same reason why buzz ended their STN – HEL route a few years ago.

Unlike some other airlines they are either offering passengers with booked tickets:

1) A full refund

2) Coach transport from Helsinki Vantaa airport to Tampere airport and fly with Ryanair to Stansted. (Paid for by Flying Finn)

3) Fly with Finnair/BA to London Heathrow (Paid for by Flying Finn)

I presume the airline is offering to pay for everyones tickets due to the short 7 day notice. I wonder if Ryanair or easyJet would ever do such a thing?

The routes routes which are to start are :

Helsinki – Stockholm Arlanda (Twice Daily from 2/2/04)
Helsinki – Vaasa (Daily from 19/1/04)
Helsinki – Joensuu (Daily from 19/1/04)

More information cna be found at : http://www.flyingfinn.fi

Does this mean that low cost carriers cant operate to destinations as far as Helsinki from London? How are easyJet doing to Athens and Ryanair to Tampere? Go also used to fly STN – TFS But that was 4 hours long so I can understand that being a useless route.

🙁 Damn they are cancelling the Stansted flight. I’ve been waiting to get a pic of them, obviously I will never be able to get one now. Oh well, I’m still waiting for an Air Polonia to come along:D

Excellent options offered by the airline! 🙂

If I had choose between Ryanair and BA/Finnair, I know who’d I go for 😀
