Some news + rumours on KLM and MP.
I’ll start with the news (confirmed) and end with the rumours for KLM and Martinair.
It has been confirmed that KLM may keep the crown and the “Koninklijke” in its name and logo.
The title “Koninklijke” and the crown is not owned by KLM but by the royal family. They give it to highly succesful Dutch companies so they have something to show of with. After KLM’s take-over by Air France it was believe by some that KLM might have had to remove the crown.
The future destinations of the B747-300s:
- PH-BUM and PH-BUO for Phuket Airlines.
- PH-BUT, PH-BUU and PH-BUV will return to the leasing company.
- PH-BUW seems to be destined for SLM Surinam Airlines.
- The other 4 will be sold by British aircraft broker Cabot Aviation. They have already placed one at Air Atlanta Icelandic.
Rumour:
- Martinair will order a new A320 and add an option.
- A new MD-11F will join the fleet April 2004. The source of this one has not been given yet, Swiss?
- In about 3 years Martinair will replace their 747s with new 744Fs.
- KLM too is going to expand the 744F fleet. A new one has been ordered which should bring the fleet to 4. Of those four 2 have been delivered already (PH-CKA/CKB).
