BMI have announced 6 new routes:
London Heathrow – Naples (Daily)
London Heathrow – Aberdeen (5 times Daily)
London Heathrow – Inverness (Daily)
Heathrow routes all starting from 28/3/04
East Midlands – Aberdeen (Daily) Starts 26/01/04
Manchester – Norwich (Daily) Starts 26/01/04
Glasgow – Knock (Daily) Starts 15/03/04
All of these routes expect LHR will use Embraer jet aircraft.
Aberdeen will be served from LHR with A319 and A320 aircraft while Inverness will be served with A321 aircraft. Not sure which aircraft will serve Naples.
Naples will be bmi’s 3rd Italian route joining Milan and Venice while the new domestic routes will make bmi the largest domestic carrier at Heathrow in terms or routes served:
Aberdeen
Belfast City
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Inverness
Leeds Bradford
Manchester
Teesside
bmi also serves Dublin from LHR but this is not considered a domestic route. It will be nice to see people living in Inverness to be able to connect through Heathrow to International flights.
How comes all of a sudden airlines are getting lots of slots at Heathrow? Bmi 5 times daily to Aberdeen, East African Airlines to Kenya, and soon Air Slovkaia to Bratsilava and Helios daily to Larnaca!!
