Whats the best weather for spotting?

I was a Prestwick today and the weather was very low cloud 250 feet tops! The viewing was superb. With the cloud so low you could here the aircraft on short finals long before you could see it and the vapour trails from the flaps and wings edges were amazing. The vortices from the wings all made for great photograghs, (wish I had my camera!)
So what does everyone think is the best? Or maybe a little bit of both good and bad weather is best?
