I wonder if anybody can assist.
My 77 year old mother in law’s sister unfortunately died this morning. MiL lives in the UK, her sister lived in Northern Ireland – obviously MiL wants to attend the funeral which is on Thursday but the only way that she can get there would be to fly, wherein is the fly in the ointment – she has no passport, no Photo ID that the airlines will accept.
Can anyone suggest any sort of acceptable ID that we can arrange in time for her to fly out tomorrow evening?
I think it’s unlikely given the timing, but clearly she is very distressed, not only about her sister’s death, but the thought that she won’t be able to attend to give her last respects, so any clues would be gratefully received.

Aviation tends to have historical connections and the US may have historic connections with…
(1) Prestwick, which was the main transatlantic airfield in WW2.
(2)Abbotsinch(Glasgow Airport) I know officially it was RN but did the US ever use as overspill /diversion ?, the horizon looks possible from memory.
(3)Macrihanish …. does have high ground close by ,used as diversion airfield?
any port in a storm!!?
Also what about Renfrew Airport … once again possible diversion?did it have hard runways during WW2, it may have similar horizon to Abbotsinch

Wild guess, but is it Dyce/Aberdeen? I’ve only been there twice, once to fly to Stornaway, and back again, and that was in the mid 1970’s.
Stingy RAF wouldn’t take us in Jaguars or Shackletons direct from Lossie. 🙁

Also, with the silver B-17G, it would have to be 1944 or later, I think.

No it’s not Prestwick, those hills are far too close. I can’t hazard where it might be though.

I just leave (quite) low bids on lots of items. Then see what I get at the end. I get some real bargins. Last week I recieved 500 pics from 70/80`s Nort Weald, Duxford ect. And today about 300 70/80`s pics from Duxford, Old Warden ect. Thank you for the offer but I just collect original photographs. Hope you can remove the ink blot. Any way I wont spoil your thread any more by going any further off topic.

Hi,
Thanks Paul.
Sorry benyboy, I placed my bid 5 hours before the end. The bid I placed was what it went for.
I’ll send you a high res scan if you want. 🙂
Do you have any similar photos?
