Good news for Oneworld

HOT OFF THE AIRLINES.NET FORUMS

Air New Zealand and Mexicana Airlines look set to leave the Star Alliance as leaders of the leading airline group meet in Frankfurt, Germany this week to discuss terminating both their memberships. Air New Zealand always wanted closer links to Oneworld memeber Qantas and has a good relashionship with AA. Oneworld is the most lightly choice. Mexicana does not want a merge with Aeromexico so Skyteam is ruled out. Again, with AA wanting to codeshare on its big latin-american presence, Oneworld seems the best choice. Bucharest-based Tarom has also expressed the need to join the BA/AA-lead alliance.
Swiss is to become a full oneworld memeber in early 2004.
