Copenhagen flight and trip report

As part of my International Business Studies course this year our teacher organised an exchange to Denmark, a very new and daunting experience for me, but I kept my hopes alive by thinking of the flight and spotting opportunitys that were going to be available!
After enduring a nasty 3 hour journey across London we finaly got to Stansted for ou 1330 flight to Copenhagen Kastrup. After checking in I was presented with the wonderful sight of Air Foyles AN22 parked over on the North side manouvering around to pick up her frieght. Also around me was a UPS 767 N329UP, Air Berlin 737 D-AHIA and also a number of ex Buzz and ex Continental aircraft that I needed too. We boared our Boeing 733 G-IGOR, and ex GO machine at just after 1300, and after getting a wonderful view of the AN22 departing we pushed back and taxiied down parallel to RWY05. ATC gave us an intersection departure which allowed me just a quick glimpse into the FLS hangar, of which there was a DHL 757 G-BMRE
After lining up I got a glance at an Air France 146 going to Cityjet, a Titan ATR42, several UAE BBJ’s, a TNT A300 OO-TZA, a Mid East Jet 757 and also their 777 too. The flight was very uneventful, cruising at Fl330 we saw a Lufthansa 744, a JAL 744 descending into LHR, and also some kind of a fighter below us over The Netherlands.
We landed on 04L at CPH and taxiied up to the gate on pier A. During the taxi I got my first sight of the new DUO colours on G-DUOG which actualy look quite nice in the flesh, and a few other European and Scandinavian bits and pieces.
The terminal itself was very nice and glassy which enabled me to get hold of several new registrations, although the walk to baggage reclaim was immense!
After a few wonderful days of the Danish way of life I was able to come back to CPH on the following Tuesday afternoon where I clocked many new SAS machines including some A340s and a 767.
Among these were 2 Spanair A320s and an MD80, a EuroLot ATR, and Air Greenland 757, much of the Skyways and Cimber fleets and a few things from Falcon Air, Air Baltic and Air Atlantic. Sadly I was unable to see the Air Greenland A330 or the USAF 707 that came in later because I was getting slighlt yput off by the ever decresing temperature. It got to around -10 one night!
The next few days in Denmark were not so good with one friend having a seizure at Copenhagen central station, and collapsing and smashing his face in. Thankfully my first aid training did come into play and he has just arrived back in the UK this morning after being discharged from hospital last night.
Last Saturday, November 1st we bade an emotional good bye to our partners and ventured back to the airport. Many UK flights had been cancelled that morning, but luckily the STN one was still coming, albeit delayed by 10 minutes. I found a wonderful viewing area on the top floor of the glass terminal, decked out with leather seats and footstools! Absolute luxury!
The only planes of interest viewed there was Aeroflots new A319 on its 3rd visit to CPH, BMIs ERJ145 G-RJXB, and Kish Airs Tu154 EP-LBS. I watched as G-IGOO, my ride home, landed, but sadly missed taking a photo of it as the information screens told me the flight was boarding! After hastily packing everything away my 733 taxiied right past the window!
I was the last person to pass through passport control but one of the first to board the plane due to the fact that I was one of the first 30 people to check in, thus securing me a windowseat again! Boarding was swift and we departed only 5 minutes late, a turnaround of a little over 15 minutes! We taxiied quickly out to runway 22R and took off behind a SAS commuter Dash 8 off into the clouds. You could clearly see the airflow going over the wings which was something I had never seen before!
Once through the clouds I bought one of the first ever Easyjet sandwhiches, only introduced to the range that day! At £3.80 I was expecting it to be very good indeed, and it did not disapoint!
After chatting up one of the Stewardesses a bit I convinced her to ask the captain whether I was able to look in the cockpit after we had landed. Sadly he refused as he was going to have to switch aircraft as soon as we had landed, but at least I could see that there was hope of getting in on a later flight!
Landing on STNs runway 23 this time we passed Air Azzuras new 737 EI-CXE, and on the North side parked against an as yet unidentified 747 was A6-YAS, the UAE govt biggest business jet!
After parking on the exact same stand we had left from we were able to clearly see G-GSSB GSS’s 744 operating for BA World Cargo, and a nice surprise was Aeroflots DC10, VP-BDE
Before waiting for the train I walked across to the footbridge on the far side of the terminal and picked up a Thomas Cook A320 B-BXKP, a Premiair A320 OY-CNR, and a Viking MD80 SE-ROF

All in all it was a very enjoyable trip with some nice aviation visits and flights thrown in inbetween!
