British Airways is to improve its free meals on European flights with the launch of a new series of menus from the start of November.
The new food service is another aspect of British Airways, which sets the airline above no frills carriers who charge passengers for onboard refreshments.
The new menus for more than 13 million customers in Euro Traveller will concentrate on offering greater choice, healthy meal options and more appropriate food depending on the time of the flight during the day.
The airline will also be introducing a hot sandwich on all its mid range European flights to a wide range of destinations in countries such as Italy, Spain, Sweden, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Hot food options will remain on longer shorthaul flights including Russia, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus.
As well as improved quality and quantity of food, customers will also notice a change of presentation with a new style Deli box replacing the old style Deli bag.
Euro Traveller customers will also be able to pick up a choice of four complimentary national newspapers when boarding the aircraft on all European routes by December.
Kevin George, head of shorthaul brands at British Airways, said: “The enhanced free food service is just one aspect of British Airways’ full service product which sets us above the no frills carriers
“We remain fully committed to offering all our customers all the benefits of flying with a full service carrier but at great value for money prices.
“We believe that customers recognise that flying with no frills carriers is often worse value for money than flying British Airways when they add up the total cost and time of their journey.
“We also fly to the major airports across Europe and have excellent flight schedules that allow customers to travel at their preferred time of day.”
The new enhanced free food service will begin on British Airways mainline European services before being introduced on mainline domestic services in December.
