Eastern and NCL + LBA

From LBIA.co.uk

Just six months after taking over Leeds-Aberdeen and Newcastle-Aberdeen from British Airways, Eastern Airways is increasing frequencies on both routes in response to increasing demand. Its bolstered timetable, effective 26 October, features a new midday departure from Aberdeen to Newcastle and an early afternoon Newcastle-Aberdeen service. There is a new Aberdeen-Leeds service at 1520 and a new Leeds-Aberdeen departure at 1715, offering greater flexibility to business and leisure travellers.

Eastern is also introducing to its fleet, the high-speed 50-seat Saab 2000 propjet, which will debut on Southampton-Newcastle, a through flight on to Aberdeen. The Saab 2000 is renowned for its jet-like performance and comfortable cabin, offering the widest seats in its class. Eastern accepts the 2000, a former Crossair/Swiss aircraft, this weekend, resplendent in its new colours.

“We have been very pleased with our growth on these new services to Aberdeen,” said Eastern Airways Chief Executive Richard Lake. “Load factors are strong and we are delighted to be introducing our new 50-seat Saab 2000 on the Southampton-Newcastle and Aberdeen routes. Leeds Bradford flights will operate with a mixture of BAE Jetstream 32 and 41 aircraft. All Eastern Airways’ passengers travelling from Aberdeen Airport can relax in the comfort of the airline’s hospitality lounge.

Tony Cairns, Chairman of the Airport Board of Directors commented: “We are delighted that, as a result of the success of their routes from Leeds Bradford, Eastern Airways is increasing their services again from our airport. The services offered by Eastern Airways are valued by the region and our passengers, from whom we receive such favourable comments of their services.”

Chris Sanders, Business Development Manager at Newcastle Airport commented: “We are delighted Eastern Airways has added an extra Aberdeen-Newcastle flight in response to customer suggestions. This additional flight and the use of the larger Saab 2000 means there will be an increase in the number of seats this winter between the two cities of over 40%. We are looking forward to welcoming more business and leisure visitors arriving from Aberdeen to explore all this region has to offer.”

Award-winning Eastern Airways, which expects to carry 550,000 passengers this year on a 16-strong UK route network, is also launching new flights next week from Birmingham to Inverness and from Newcastle and East Midlands to the Isle of Man.
