I’ve just enjoyed 60mins of pure airline nostalgia watching one of the latest releases from Avion Video/DVD. Entitled London Airport Heathrow in the 60s and 70s I can’t recommend it highly enough.
(No I don’t have shares in the company) The sight and sound of B707s, 720s, Tridents, 1-11s Caravelles,IL62s,Tu114s,104s,134s
are fantastic as are the views of LHR itself during that time period. There are scenes shot on board these machines and the shots of the early 747 operations by BOAC/BA, TWA, Pan Am and Aer Lingus,as well as the early DC10s and Tristars are magic. Its like watching a re-run of a mis-spent youth on the Heathrow roof terrace and the surrounding areas- Don’t miss it!
