Concorde Party poopers at BAA

Dear All,

Just sent this email to Liz Tooke, Head of Public Affairs at BAA. Maybe some more of you could join in to try and change their attitude towards people wanting to be at Heathrow on Friday 24th…

Ms Tooke,

As Head of Public Affairs at BAA, can I ask why BAA is seeming NOT to enter into the spirit of Concordes last commercial flight this week?

I see from the BBC web site that NO special provisions have been made to accommodate the thousands of enthusiasts from around the world who will UNDOUBTEDLY converge at Heathrow on Friday to witness this historic event – in fact you seem to be actively discouraging people from visiting Heathrow by closing visitor facilities.

You might think that by adopting this strategy you will discourage enthusiasts but I can assure you that nothing will prevent enthusiasts from wanting to be there and furthermore your actions will undoubtedly serve to worsen the expected congestion around the airport.

This country has a long and proud aviation heritage and as the only operator of supersonic airliners it seems a shame that BAA are unable to recognise this in its event planning.

If this event was taking place in any other country in the world I feel sure that the relevant national authorities would be encouraging a national celebration of this great event.

Yours,
