As far as know and so far, there are five airports in London Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City Airport……I wonder if any other have been opened?. Any idea about the plans for the new airports…Marston, Ashford?……I wonder if any of know have any idea if something remain from the the former London Airports like Northolt, or Croydon.

It’s strange to think that if you stand in the grounds of Hendon today, with all the bustle of Hendon and Colindale around you, that just seventy years ago some of the greatest and most spectacular air displays would have been going on overhead. The old ‘Empire Air Days’ and the like.

Just a museum now.

Can RAF Hendon still handle flights or is it just a museum?

I live near the old croydon airport site. They still have a few parts of the building work left. Control tower is still intact, and I think the the terminal is now a hotel.
They have an aircraft on display outside of the control tower building.
I will find a site and do a write up on it later on today for you Keltic.

If you go by what they’re called, you’ve also got “London-Southend” Airport.
