Martinair 757 will leave fleet

Martinair’ only 757 (PH-AHI) will leave the fleet the 4th of January. It is replaced by the A320s that are being introduced into the fleet now. Martinair has ordered 3 A320s of which 2 have been delivered.

This will mean that Air Holland is the only Dutch airline that flies the 757. Both Transavia and DutchBird want to dispose of their 757s. Transavia has already removed two, both sold to the RNZAF.

Transavia will replace the 757 with more 737NGs and Dtchbird with more A320s.

There was a message on the Dutch Spotter Mailing List discussing the future fleet of Air Holland. It was in Dutch, but I’ll summarize it:

* PH-AHE will leave the fleet (return to lessor). Another unidentified 757 will join the fleet. Perhaps the PH-AHI, it used to be an Air Holland plane till they went bankrupt in 1999?
* 767 PH-AHR will leave the fleet, but two other ones will join the fleet.
* Air Holland will fly to Aruba for tour Dutch operator Arke Reizen.
* Air Holland will be the European carrier for the Heineken Regatta at St. Maarten.
* These 767s might be ex KLM but other sources (scramble message board) are talking about ex SAS.
* The PH-AHR will join Sobelair/DCA flying between Amsterdam and Curacao.

The original message in Dutch, please note that you may need to have a Yahoo! account. In case you don’t have one, they are easy to get and free.

Do you think Air Holland might pick up any of these 757’s to boost it’s operations, especially as two are sub contracted to Air Scotland flights ?
