what's that thing on the DO-328 (prop)?

I have attached a picture of an Dornier 328 prop I made yesterday.

There seems to be a big long bar going from over the wing to the tail. Does anyone happen to know what it is and how many Dorniers are equiped with this “railing”. Can this thing only be found on the prop, or is the jet also equiped with this?

I have not seen it before, or at least I haven’t noticed it before. I also made a pic of another DO-328 (air alps) the same day that does not have this thing.

Thanks,

I flew out on A6 073 on the 2nd Aug and rtn on A6 074 on the 12th (both legs on OE-LKB). Really good flights, booked on KLM codeshare, flew from MAN with a v.short connection in AMS. One thing I thought was rather strange in the Do328 was the fact that the front seats had 3point diagonal seat belts fitted. If i have time I will try to compile a trip report.

Hi this is my 1st post!

Ive just flown on an Air Alps Aviation Do328 AMS-SZG-AMS and it did not have that on the side, it was a really comfortable flight, and very smooth for a prop!

Cheers

From the picture I tried to post above you could see clearly that the horizontal bit was indeed a cable, it had some slackness in it, which can’t be seen in the original pic.

So it’s either:

* a communications antenna (the horizontal bit does not seem to be a cable though, too thick)
* a laundry line for kilts
* a shower curtain rail
* an economy class travel arrangement
* a lightning conductor

I’m confused :confused:

Looks to me like a rail for the shower curtain!

I’m not sure what it is but I have seen them on some ATP’s as well.

Or a super economy class travel arrangement,
You are simply handcuffed to the bars and flown to your destination….

Now theres an idea..Surprised no idiot kid train’surfer’ has picked it up:D
A new extreme sport me thinks…

It looks like a row of antenna joined together by cable ?
