I know that many of us are trijets fans.
The airliners designed since 2 or 3 decades were either twin jets or quad jets. (Except maybe a couple of business jets such as Falcon)
Do you think that we have any chance to see a modern trijet some day?

I have to agree Ren, I just can’t see the day when a new modern commercial tri-jet would take to the sky.:(

I doubt it, modern engines are so efficient you don’t really need 3. Although you have to ask the question, if engines are so efficient why not use 3 instead of 4?
I’m guessing it’s down to the fact that the whole design of the airframe is compromised by a tri-jet setup, whereas on 2 or 4 engined liners it’s just a question of mounting the engines on the wing pylons ?
I don’t suppose that tail mounted 3rd engine is easily removed for servicing either ? :confused:
