Ill look forward to flying them on the 22nd of August! I suppose you have to congratulate Astraeus for been up there to as they are a new airline.

I’ve always liked Britannia and on my first transatlantic crossing in 1998 to Orlando Sanford, I was very impressed. Nearly 9 hours on a 767-300 passed very quickly. We were served two main meals and a hot dog before landing. Drinks had to be paid for (but this standard on all charter flights) and the meals were quite good. The only hefty delay I’ve encountered was last year with Airtours International (about 4 hours from MBJ to LGW) and then in 2000 with JMC on a LGW to POP flight (about 3.5 hours).
Mind you, most charters are good in their own way. Delays are necessarily everything. You may find an extremely punctual airline has poor service. With Britannia though, this is not the case.

Well Im not sure. On both of my trips to LGW in the last month, AR has been parked up at the far end of the airport on a remote stand, always with all the doors open, but quite a few people around it.
See it parked over the back… Thats where its been for most of the time I think.

Is it a spare then, or is it being used daily.
To be honest, it was the best BY757 I’ve flown on (though I admit it was back in ’97). I wonder how BY decided this was the aircraft that was going to Air Holland as opposed to any other one.

Yes. It hasnt left the fleet, BY have aquired it again.
AR was due to go on a long term lease to Air Holland, but the deal fell through, so now its back with BY. I have been trying to follow this aircraft’ progress since I saw it at LGW last month.

Are you referring to G-BYAR?
This used to be a BY aircraft anyway I think as I flew on it from LBA to LPA in ’97. Never did figure out why it left the fleet in the first place.

Britannia gets this award nearly every year dont they? Granted they are a good airline though. I have only ever had one bad delay, 4 hours in Palma, but it was not the airlines fault, it was the fault of 2 missing passengers.
Well done BY! 🙂
Btw, the Albino has been on the move again. At LGW on the 1 Aug, and up in MAN on the 3rd.

Yeah, Astreus has surprised me too – good news for them though.

Ive been with Monarch 4 times and have had no delays. MyTravel twice and 1 3 hour delay and they are regularly delayed. Im surprised that Astraeus are right up there ahead of BA XLA and MON. They have fairly old Aircraft and they are a new airline so I take my hat off to them.

I agree.
Britannia are one of the best charter airlines IMO, though their staff and to some extent my experience on some rather tatty 757s make me believe that Air 2000 are actually ‘the’ best.
And your statistics LBA show that Air 2000 couldn’t really get much closer to BY in terms of punctuality.
As for Monarch and Mytravel, its no surprise to see these two near the bottom – I have never had a flight with these two companies that hasn’t been delayed.
