Everybody have there own ideas and can only go on there own experiences. I have never flown Virgin, Sabena and most of the other names mentioned on here. So i couldnt comment on those. In recent months I have flown Gulf Air and Estonia Airways. But I wont give them a listing. Some of my flights with Gulf Air have been excellent, other flights have been poor. All Airlines have a delay with there flights, so that cant come into consideration.
All Airlines have staff who are trained to a very high level of customer service, which can be different in each airline, but each crew is flying the flag for the airline. They are the first point of contact for the public, and do a very hard and stressfull job.You all know Im biassed towards Gulf Air, as thats the Airline my fiancee currently flies for, and I am trying to get a job with. But I wont put it in any list of ‘Worlds Best Airlines’ as I havnt flown in all the worlds airlines.
Sorry but for me this type of voting dont mean anything.
I kind of agree.
I guess that “What is YOUR world’s best Airline” would be more appropriate.

I’ve logged my share of hours in a variety of planes from a variety of airlines, but one thing I can’t forget is going back a thousand or so years to being six years old and flying New York-Shannon-Dublin on a TWA “Starstream” Boeing 707, replete with the old single stripe livery. Those stewardesses were so glamorous and beautiful – I wanted the one who pinned my TWA Junior Pilot wings to be my mom (hey, I was six!). That was a wonderful flight, watching the North Atlantic slide by outside the window.
Oddly, on the return trip with Aer Lingus, I have a great memory of the meal – it was fish and chips. One piece of fish and two giant chips laid side by side. It may have been the prototype for some of the stuff being served now…
Two thumbs up for the old TWA, Aer Lingus, and a special nod to the people who made swissair such a great airline to fly.
Cheers all.

Sabena – no competition there.
VLM – Good regional airline (and they’re Belgian!!)
Air France/Finnair – Both as good, nothing to choose between those two.

Caledonian top for me – Found the aircraft clean/ staff friendly and service over all faultless.
BA next for me… now that I have flown with them… even though it was a short flight I still witnessed the good service and clean aircraft… well the 747 any how. 🙂
Finally BY. Upon all the times I have flown with BY I have been unable to find fault with them.
