The pilot was found asleep by a passanger on a flight from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale.
Apparantly he was asleep for most of the flight.
The whole incident was recorded, the camera did look outside and all i could tell was it was a turboprop aircraft, didnt get a proper look!
The pilot was sacked from his company “Walker Aviation” and the FAA said sleeping at the controls was “innapropriate”

On a 2 crew aircraft it depends on the employers philosophy. There is nothing in our ops manual preventing us from prearranging with each other a quick ‘rest period’. Would you rather be landed by a shagged out pilot after a long night flight or a rested one?

Having watched the video, I’m almost positive the aircraft was a Twin Otter (Y style yoke and throttles located on the ceiling). In answer to people’s questions, yes there was a first officer on board who flew the entire flight according to the news report I watched. It should be interesting to note that this really isn’t as big as it seems. In Canada the PNF is legally allowed to take a 45 minutes rest in the flight deck (read nap) as long as the PF is alert and awake.

That roue is a short hop, so I guess it was a small aircraft. Aircraft below a certain weight or number of seats will only require 1 pilot.
On a short hop, he must have been knackerd to sleep in such a short flight.

must have been over worked. Thats what these small companies usualy do.
