18th anniversary of Air India, Shannon crash

I just realised, looking through some news pages that today, June 23rd marks the 18th anniversary of the bombing of the Air India flight 182 (VT-EFO) over the Shannon coast line with the deaths of 329 innocent souls.

I remember it well, I was 14 at the time and I can’t believe it’s so long ago now. I understand there have been movements in Canada to bring about prosecution.

I was also intrigued to find out that the plane was carrying a spare damaged engine on the left wing back to India for repair.

Anyone know anymore on this technique ?

Re spare engine

It is not uncommon for 747’s to carry a spare engine on a mounting on the left wing, I found the attached photgraph but I have seen others at airliners.net.

If you look closely you can see the extra engine

Fair point, consider it amended.
