I saw a report on BBC news that Boeing is now in the planning stages of designing a normal size airliner that will provide 20% greater fuel efficiency. They also anounced that the sonic cruiser has been scraped (but lets face it, we all know that was a stopgap publicity stunt to begin with, in reaction to the A380). They breifly showed an artists impression of this airliner, and it was basically a normal looking airliner fuselage with extra long, high aspect ratio wings. So the concept (or gimic if your so inclined) is to use swept sailplane wings on airliners. IIRC its going to be called the dream cruiser.

You mean the 7E7 “Dreamliner”. That one has been going a while now.
