bmi Bits!

Look out at an airport near you!

TF-FIW B757 is coveringfor the A321 G-MIDJ that was damaged by hail the other week until early July

Also i see they have a lone A319 due next january! – Sounds good for a regional run – LBA-LHR for example over the F100 – may be an option if she’s CAT3 equipted

Interesting news regarding Ghana, but I’m hooked on the potential merger between BMI British Midland and Virgin Atlantic. Could be a great move for both airlines – one long haul operator and short haul operator!

What are the 2 original BMI 330s doing at the moment? Do they fly to the USA? I’ve just answered this for myself (or EGNM has), have just seen the post posted a few minutes before mine!

bmi used to have a few a/c with “operated for Air 2000” titles on them. i’ve got a shot of MIDJ with the titles.

At present they have 2 a/c on the US runs from MAN – Washigton and Chicago. The 3rd a/c is with SAA atm for crew training prior to the A340 deliveries, and the 4th is in storage at Tolouse i think…

I thought the extra A330 was going down to Dubai or South Africa as proposed new routes?
I actually travelled on G-MIDJ. The damaged flight must of been on behalf of MyTravel or someone similar.

I thought that G-MIDJ was back up and running the next day with a newly fitted nose cone??

Heres a bit more Bmi news…

Fly Ghana Limited Will likely become the new company, replacing Ghana Airways during at least 3 but no more than 5 years. The company will be managed by bmi (British Midland International) and will eventually be integrated with Ghana Airways to form a new company to be known as the New Ghana Airways.
Under the bmi proposed plan, an Airbus A330-200 would be deployed as soon as possible on the Accra to London Heathrow route. That would be followed by a second Airbus A330-200 for the Accra to New York JFK route. A Fokker 100 operated by bmi would be used for regional services. Ghana Airways DC10 would be used on secondary international routes.
