I think its emerging slowly into a global player. With new B777s, A320s and help from USA its really upgrading its fleet, management and from what i have heard great in-flight service. Although i still dont know if there is enough passengers from Vietnam for making Vietnam Airlines into a major. Although into Vietnam if they develop it well, it can be a good tourist destination. Specialy for back-packers. It can be a major player in S.E.Asia and in future give competition to SIA, Thai and Malaysian.
Although it doesent leave the airline flexible enough due to USA lingering on there heads, but then again without USA too they wouldnt have been much succesful.
