How the Nimrod was much more than just a carrier-based Fury The Nimrod was a conventional biplane of mostly metal construction. The fuselage was typical Hawker, with tubular steel longerons and spacers connected with specially shaped sheet metal fishplates, bolted to the tubular members, and wire-braced. The fuselage was divided into two main sections: the front, carrying the wings, engine and cockpit, and the rear, carrying the tail.
