Joint Russian-Turkish strikes on Syria
RUSSIAN AND Turkish combat aircraft have begun joint operations over Syria, conducting air strikes against terrorists of the so-called Islamic State (IS), the Russian Ministry of Defence has announced. On January 26 aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) and Turkish Air Force flew ‘joint strikes’ against IS positions near al-Bab in Aleppo province. Approved by the Syrian authorities, the operation involved Russian Su-24M and Su-35S aircraft as well as Turkish F-16s and F-4s. Planning for the strikes took place
