‘Liberty Bells’ leave Japan

Nate Leong CARRIER AIRBORNE Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 115 ‘Liberty Bells’ departed Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan on June 1. The E-2C squadron completed 44 years of service in the country to become one of the US Navy’s longestserving forward-deployed squadrons. VAW-125 ‘Tigertails’, equipped with the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, is now based at MCAS Iwakuni and has taken up the responsibility for airborne early warning within Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) in Japan.
