Austria marks Alouette III half-century
THE BUNDESHEER (Federal Armed Forces of Austria) celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Alouette III helicopters on September 22 at an event hosted by the military airfield at Aigen im Ennstal. Austria still has 24 Alouette IIIs flying, from an original total of 29. Sixteen are based at Aigen im Ennstal (of which several make up detachments at Klagenfurt and Schwaz in Tirol), while the other six are used for training at Tulln-Langenlebarn.
