‘Wings over Windermere’ exhibition set to open
Charity The Lakes Flying Company is setting up a permanent exhibition called ‘Wings over Windermere’ at Windermere Library to tell the story of the Waterbird, the first successful British seaplane. The exhibition, on the first floor of the library, will open in August 2024. It will comprise 12 professionally-designed and manufactured panels and an interactive area. There will be free admission during the library’s opening hours. The Waterbird seaplane, built by Avro for Edward Wakefield, undertook the first successful take-off
