The European Commission (EC) has granted approval for the Lufthansa Group to acquire a 41% stake in ITA Airways with the view to a complete takeover in due course.
However the EC said the deal remains conditional until "suitable remedy-takers" have been approved. This includes improved competitiveness on short- and long-haul routes, plus the transfer of slots at Milan/Linate.
The Lufthansa Group said more details will be communicated "as soon as the formalities have been fully completed."
