A museum in the American state of Georgia has received Lockheed F-117A 81-10794

The ‘stealth’ aircraft is on temporary outdoor display at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins Georgia following arrival on May 18.

Currently stripped of its distinctive black surface paint, the F-117A is due to be refurbished after a short period of display at the museum. It’ll then be on permanent display, looking as good as it did in service. This particular airframe made its first flight on April 15, 1983, and bowed out of official military service in October 2007.

The museum has promised that great things are afoot for the exhibit. In a statement it said: “This is only the beginning! We are excited to share the full restoration journey with our community and the airmen who flew and maintained the F-117. Watching Delta Dawn go from a demilitarized state to a fully restored aircraft will help us bring to life the stories and sacrifices made by the Nighthawk community to safeguard our freedoms.”

Restoration on this important exhibit is expected to start on June 4 – it’ll be on show until then.
